年末年始のお休み、日本では28日頃まで働いて、３が日をしっかり休むところが多いですが、欧米ではクリスマス前に休暇に入って、２日には仕事を始めるところが多いですね。これもクリスマスというものへの考え方の違いでしょうか･･･。1815年、ナポレオン戦争の終結にともない、ウィーン会議の決定に従って失地回復を果たした。また、この際にジェノヴァを併合した。1821年3月、フェデラーティを中心とした立憲革命が勃発した。王家の一門貴族であるカルロ・アルベルト（のちに国王となる）の理解を得て立憲制への移行が実現しようとしたが、革命の方針をめぐる内部分裂もあり、オーストリアの軍事干渉を受けて失敗した。
